Over the last five weeks, the ten partners schools involved in the Frankenstein Project have been helping Michael Wicherek put the finishing touches to the script of the brand-new play based on Mary Shelley’s novel. Last week it was the turn of three schools in the Wigan St Helens area: St John Fisher Catholic High School, the Atherton Community School and The Deanery CE High School and Sixth Form College.
Students from Years 9 & 10 had been rehearsing sections of the drafted play to present to Michael and Aryana Ramkhalawon and to discuss with the Box Clever team their responses to and ideas about the script. The input of our target audience at this point of the creative process is invaluable in helping to bring set texts to life and we are now all eagerly anticipating the rehearsed reading of the completed play later this month. Rehearsals will take place at Ovalhouse in London with Jessica Dennis as the writer, Cameron Johnson as Dr Frankenstein and Alan Magor as the Creature. Enrico Aurigemma will provide live music and scary sound effects. The company will then move to the Louth Playgoers’ Riverhead Theatre, The Citadel Arts Centre, St Helens and the Theatre Royal Margate for the premiere of the script and the critical response of its student audience!
