Michael, our Artistic Director and the Shakespeare team, Cory, Maria and Riad, have had a wonderful start this week to the Scunthorpe Shakespeare Project, supported by North Lincolnshire District Council and Arts Council England Grants for the Arts.  Students  in Years 9-12  in four schools in the area, Winterton Community Academy, The St Lawrence Academy, North Lindsey College and Sir John Nelthorpe School, have explored the wizardry of Shakespeare’s theatrical language in workshops following a performance of Romeo and Juliet. With the help of the Box Clever team they have discovered how the playwright’s careful choice of vocabulary and use of imagery can transform a bare stage, filling it with light, colour, a vivid sense of place and highly charged emotion. We’re really looking forward to their response to the challenge of exploring their favourite lines from the play with us in the next workshop.
