While the rest of the Box Clever office folk were beavering away indoors sorting out plans for the autumn, the Feet First and Belt Up actors were braving the blue skies and sunshine on some of the hottest days of the year travelling the length and breadth of Croydon to perform their plays, with one performance even taking place outside. Also on the road this past week, Emma Butcher led a team of actor-facilitators at Lady Eleanor Holles School in Middlesex engaging their Year 9 students in our Dream Day, which built on their study of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

It was heartening to see the girls working so collaboratively, engaging with the play and immersing themselves so brilliantly in the rehearsals and performances. If the final performance of the play in the afternoon proved anything and, as Emma from Box Clever reminded us all, it is that Shakespeare wrote plays to be enjoyed: “the play’s the thing” indeed. Thank you to the inspiring and energetic Box Clever actors for a fantastic day.
