The Scunthorpe Shakespeare Project

The Scunthorpe Shakespeare Project

Inspiring student creativity from the experience of Shakespeare’s theatre.

Supported by North Lincolnshire District Council and Arts Council England Grants for the Arts

In January 2017, students in Years 9 and 10 in four partner schools in Scunthorpe will be encouraged to explore their own creative responses to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet having seen Box Clever’s performance of the play. Working closely with facilitators from the company, they will create pieces of imaginative prose or poetry which they will be able to hear performed by professional actors at the Central Library at the end of the project. In addition the company will also be offering a workshop for teachers and aspiring writers on the theme of ‘Writing for Young People’.

Creative team

Michael Wicherek (Writer); Evie Tyler (Juliet), Cory Stuckey (Romeo), Maria Simmonds (Narrator).
