2016/17 Creative Team

 

We are excited to announce our creative team for 2016/17.

 

Riad Ritchie

Actor

Riad’s love for action ignited him towards a career in Stage, TV and Film. After Graduating from East 15, studying acting & Stage Combat, Riad has engaged in various styles of performance. Riad played the villain ‘Chauvelin’ in the Tower of London’s ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’ hosted by the Royal Armouries. He has also worked with Secret Cinema in numerous shows, most notably as ‘Chester Branson’ in ‘Saturday Night Fever’. Being highly skilled in stage combat has enabled Riad to gain specialist roles including Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Cinderella’ and BBC’s ‘The Musketeers’.

Emma Butcher

Actor/Facilitator

Emma Butcher ActorEmma trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and since graduating, she has played a wide variety of roles, from Lady Macbeth to a Pantomime Dame and every female role in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (and some of the male ones as well!) She has toured in Germany and Northern Ireland, as well as most of England and says she “just can’t get enough of the open road”. Emma has been involved in many previous Box Clever projects and is pleased to be able to continue to bring lively theatre to young people up and down the country with Car Story.

Natasha Culley

Actor

Natasha has recently graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a BA Hons Acting (Musical Theatre). The Passenger will be her first professional production since graduating. Natasha is very excited to begin her journey with Box Clever as Theatre in Education is something she has always been passionate about.

Credits whilst training include: Sweet Young Lass – La Ronde (Cue Productions), Toni Newsome – Pentecost (RCSSD), Ursula – Sweet Charity (RCSSD), Shelley – Through the Wire (RCSSD).

Iqbal Khan

Director

Iqbal-KhanIqbal is a regular collaborator with the company. returns to Box Clever this season after directing the company’s recent tours of Time for the Good Looking Boy and Romeo and Juliet. He trained at the National Studio, Leicester Haymarket Theatre, Middlesex University and The Academy Drama School. Box Clever is delighted to welcome him back as he is a creative, versatile and dynamic director with critically acclaimed performances for both the National Theatre (Harold Pinter’s A Slight Ache and Landscape and Ayub Khan-Din’s Rafta, Rafta) and the RSC (Much Ado About Nothing, Othello).

Maria Gray

Actor

Maria graduated from East 15 in 2008, and has worked extensively in the UK and Italy for companies which include Action Theatre and Teatro Della Caduta. Maria’s theatre credits include The Cherry Orchard and The Winter’s Tale.

Matt Rutherford

Actor

Matthew Rutherford Actor for Box Clever Theatre

Matthew has been acting professionally since leaving university in 1996 with an Honours degree in Drama. He has appeared in the West End in The Buddy Holly Story and has toured with Jason Donovan in Sweeny Todd. As well as his work in theatre, which has taken him around the country and to the continent, he has also appeared on TV with Amanda Burton in a Lynda La Plante drama and in films including Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven.

Robert Welling

Actor

Robert Welling Actor for Box Clever Theatre

Robert graduated from the University of Exeter and Drama Centre. Recent theatre includes; Mark and the Marked (Box Clever), Leaper (Lyric Hammersmith/UK Tour), Bear & Butterfly (Theatre by the Lake/UK Tour), Full Stop (UK Tour) and Hamlet (Park Theatre). Television includes; Crip On A Trip (Channel 4). Film includes; Billy Elliot (Universal). Robert is also a voiceover artist and has recorded for Listening Books and Now>Press>Play.

 Robert will be working with Box Clever on The Passenger

Cory Stuckey

Actor

Cory trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Graduated in 2014. Recent credits include Jack and The Beanstalk (Hurricane Theatre); What Ryan Did (Fine Mess Theatre); Transports (Analogue Theatre); A Winters Tale and Jerusalem (Mountview). Cory has worked with Box Clever on a number of projects including the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Mario in Getting There.

Maria Simmonds

Actor

Maria Simmonds is a graduate from Rose Bruford College and has done a variety of theatre work from Do you know where your daughter is at the Edinburgh fridge festival to Jaydens War at Oxford House Theatre.

 Maria will be working with Box Clever on Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Introduction to Shakespeare

Zelina Rebeiro

Actor

Zelina trained at The Oxford School of Drama. Credits while training include the title role in Vanbrugh’s The Provok’d Wife; Three Sisters, Othello, Closer and Machinal (Royal Court Upstairs).Theatre Credits since graduating: Veils (Women and War Festival); Muscovado (Winner of The Alfred Fagon Award); Life on a Plum (Drywrite at the Soho Theatre); El Grito Del Bronx and Gibraltar (Cockpit Theatre); Lulu 7 (Tristan Bates Theatre). Film Credits include: The White Orchid Hotel; Salvatore; Anniversary Waltz.

Kaitlin Cusack

Actor

Kaitlin trained at ALRA, graduating in July 2017. Her performances at college include Mephisto, Love Play, Baby Girl, Measure for Measure, Twelfth Night and People on the River.  She appeared at Bristol’s Tobacco Factory in a number of productions whilst at the University of Plymouth including Reasonable Doubt, The Scanner’s B**ped, Road and Epsom Downs.  Her screen work includes Doctors (BBC); The Spoilt Earth (Paradise Pictures) and Pool Shark (Paradise Pictures).

Anna Bosworth

Anna is a Digital Theatre Practitioner based in North London. She trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, in MA Applied Theatre and likes to work with young people to make films and explore issue based theatre.  Previous projects include working with Half Moon Young People’s Theatre, Islington Community Theatre, Dance Umbrella, Talawa, Emergency Exit Arts and Magic Me. Anna is a trained Speech Bubbles practitioner. Anna also regularly lectures in Digital Applied Theatre at CSSD.
Anna will be working with Box Clever on Frankenstein
